Mayes County Historical County Museum
Also known as the Coo-Y-Yah Museum, which means "place of the huckleberries", the Mayes County Historical Museum is housed in the Katy Railroad Depot in Pryor. Artifacts and exhibits feature the Cherokee and Osage Indians, art and local history items including a large oil painting of Nathaniel Pryor, a 19th-century printing press and 19th-century salt kettle. Browse fascinating exhibits on topics like 1942 Pryor Tornado, blacksmithing, the Pensacola Dam and the Whitaker Orphan Home. The museum also has an art gallery featuring beautiful pieces of Native American artwork.
