Located only one mile from the east entrance to Roman Nose State Park on OK Hwy 8A north of Watonga, the Chaparral Retreat & Guesthouse is a three-guestroom retreat offering a luxurious, quiet getaway. Situated on 15 acres of wooded land, the property features hiking trails through mature oaks, cedar, redbud and other native trees.
Guests of Chaparral Retreat & Guesthouse can enjoy bird watching, hiking under a canopy of shade or in an open meadow, or simply sitting on the patio or porch while enjoying sunrise or sunset. While relaxing, keep your eyes peeled for squirrels frolicking on property or strolling wildlife including rabbit, deer, wild turkey and roadrunners. During a hike around the property, guests are often surprised by bursts of color provided by wildflowers and irises planted by the original owners.
The Chaparral Retreat & Guesthouse offers amenities that include flat-screen televisions, private bathrooms with showers, guest bath robes, private exterior entries, semi-private decks or patios, complimentary breakfast and more. Book a clean, comfortable room at Chaparral and enjoy the sights and sounds of birds from a backyard patio with comfortable seating for reading and lounging. Guests have access to a common living and lounge area with a sofa and game table, and a front porch with rocking chairs, as well as coffee, tea, hot chocolate and bottled water at all hours. A wood-fired pizza oven is on-sight with three-course dinners available for groups of six or more (advance reservation required and additional charge applies).
Book the Texas Room for a bright, sunny bedroom with a king-size bed, comfortable wing chairs and private bathroom with large shower. Enjoy a view of wooded landscapes from the room or the private patio. The Oklahoma Room is cozy and comfortable with a queen-size bed and private bath featuring a Tuscan-style shower and tub. A private patio on the west side of the house provides shade in the morning and sunset views in the evenings. For a Southwest-themed getaway, stay in the New Mexico room and enjoy a queen-size bed, Jacuzzi air-tub, separate walk-in shower and a covered patio. This room is also handicap-accessible.
The Retreat also hosts Oklahoma House Concerts (musicians and dates vary). Nearby attractions include Roman Nose State Park for fishing and hiking, and a restaurant at the Park Lodge for lunch and dinner. A grocery store, banks and laundry facilities can be found in the nearby town of Watonga, as well as points of historical significance and seasonal special events. Canton Lake is nearby for boating activities.
