The Tom Mix Musuem & Western Theater houses a large collection of personal and movie items from the silent movie "King of the Cowboys." The museum offers a 30-seat theater featuring Tom Mix's movies and exhibits of this silent western movie star, who once worked as a bartender, deputy sheriff, prize fighter and athletic coach in Oklahoma.
Mix was also a trick roper for the Mulhall and 101 Ranch Wild West shows of Oklahoma. 5,000 photographs give a comprehensive look into this silent movie cowboy's legacy, who lived in Dewey in 1909. Be sure to learn about the infamous suitcases during your visit to the museum.
Gift shop souvenirs range from Tom Mix shirts and caps to Tom Mix imprinted cups and glassware, plus a large selection of his movies. Movies are shown in the theater until 3:30pm.
