Lake of the Arbuckles
Built by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1966, the Lake of the Arbuckles is a popular destination for fishing and water recreation. Thirty-six miles of shoreline and protected coves are good for trotlines, and since the water is unusually clear, trolling is also popular. Sought after fish include crappie, catfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white bass, and sunfish. Fishing is permitted year-round.
The lake forms the western portion of the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Facilities include three campgrounds, picnic areas, public restrooms, drinking water and boat ramps.
