In 2001, Bartlesville dedicated Centennial Plaza, a new park in its downtown district. Phillips 66 gifted a grant that made the “Centennial Plaza Brick Wall Mural” within the park a reality. After locking down the funds, Phillips 66 commissioned two employees, Rusty Brown and Rick Romesberg, to paint the massive buffalo mural along the walls of the Centennial Plaza Park. Brown and Romesberg used a projector to sketch and then paint the chosen buffalo image on the wall.
Today, following suit with the mural’s buffalo theme, take a peek at two of the Bartlesville Buffalo Stampede buffalo sculptures, located within Centennial Park. Pose for a photo with “Billie Jean, the Dancing Machine,” created by Jay Webster. Snap a picture of “Woolaroc Wiley,” painted by Jill Cramer, with the “Centennial Plaza Brick Wall Mural” in the background.
