Located within Osage Hills State Park is a trail system that explores the beauty of northeastern Oklahoma. This system, open for hiking and mountain biking, includes three trails that give views of the park from different vantage points. The Osage Hills State Park Trail System is unpaved and crosses some rugged terrain, but it is recommended as a beginner-level trail. The trailhead is centrally-located in the park.
Creek Loop Trail: This trail, which is approximately 1.5 miles long, explores the southern part of Osage Hills State Park. Starting at the trailhead, Creek Loop Trail goes south, through a heavily-wooded area, and down into rocky bluffs. Stop at the Sand Creek scenic lookout for breathtaking views, and you may catch a glimpse of the local wildlife residents. After completing a full circle, this trail heads back in a northerly direction toward the trailhead.
Lake Trail: Covering the ground in the northern part of the park is the Lake Trail. This trail is fairly straight, and goes north from the trailhead. It meanders through an old Civilian Conservation Corps campground, then around the edge of a lake before heading back south to merge into Overlook Trail.
Overlook Trail: This trail begins where the Lake Trail ends, and ends at Lookout Tower. Overlook Trail is the shortest route to take, but there is much lush scenery to take in. At Lookout Tower, head back south to finish at the trailhead.
