Repairs to the Watonga dam are currently underway. The lake will be dewatered during the repair of the primary spillway. In addition, the emergency spillways will be renovated.

Lake Watonga offers a variety of recreation opportunities for the entire family. This lake features 55 surface acres of water surrounded by three miles of shoreline, and Roman Nose State Park sits on its western shores. Explore the park's biking and hiking trails, then settle in at one of the campgrounds, complete with a dump station, comfort station and playground.
Fishing is a favorite activity at Lake Watonga, with largemouth bass, channel catfish, sunfish, crappie and rainbow trout in abundance. Roman Nose State Park provides level, grassy access around the lake, as well as an earthen fishing jetty. Roman Nose State Park offers a boat ramp on the lake, in addition to canoe and paddleboat rentals.
