Welcome to the fast-growing city of Mustang in Canadian County. This central Oklahoma community neighbors Oklahoma City but offers a unique history all its own. With roots dating back to the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889, Mustang took its name after a well-known creek just north of town. Historically, one of the city’s biggest economies is agriculture, and there are plenty of farms to prove it. If fresh produce is what you’re after, take your pick from the Wildhorse Gardens & Market, Rejoice Farms, Buffalo Creek Berry Farm or Agape House Berry Farm. Then, visit the Sand Stone Spring Vineyard for a refreshing glass of Made in Oklahoma wine.
Learn more about Mustang’s past with a trip to the Mustang Historical Museum, or get outside with a trip to Wild Horse Park. This 158-acre complex includes trails, a playground, pond, picnic pavilions, sporting complexes and an aquatic facility. When hunger strikes, Mustang has plenty of restaurants to satisfy any craving. Take your pick from favorites like Thai or Pho, Los Vaqueros Mexican Restaurant, Del Rancho or S&B's Burger Joint.
If your travels bring you to Mustang in September, a visit to Mustang’s Western Days is a must. This annual event, held on the first full weekend following Labor Day, features best-dressed cowboy and cowgirl contests, gospel music, a chili cook-off, a rodeo and more.
