Celebrate Earth Day at Oklahoma State Parks
Reconnect with nature this April at an Earth Day Celebration held at an Oklahoma State Park.
Checotah is home to Lake Eufaula State Park, the Honey Springs Battlefield and country superstar Carrie Underwood. Located in eastern Oklahoma, this charming community also boasts a downtown historic district and many antique malls. Whether you choose to stay in a cabin near the lake or set up camp at one of the tent or RV campgrounds, there are plenty of options for an overnight stay. Once hunger strikes, visit local favorite June’s Restaurant for delicious chicken fried steak and mouthwatering homemade desserts.
With a variety of land and water activities available at Lake Eufaula State Park, you’ll find something for all ages. Fish in the lake or in the children’s fishing pond, visit the on-site Lake Eufaula Stables and saddle up for a guided horseback ride or learn about native plants and animals at the Deep Fork Nature Center. The park also offers an 18-hole disc golf course, Lovelock Fountain and marina with heated fishing dock. If you’re looking for a unique overnight accommodation, check out the park’s yurts — round tent-like structures with comfy beds and climate control.
